Itevi.A. R. Sitton regret very much that he hus decided

ton makes up his mind there is no appeal, which was prov

men pleaded with him to reconsider his decision and stay
within our gates.
He has done good work here the kind of work that a
good, sincere Missouri Kaptist can do who he sots about
his Father's affairs. All through the war Hev. Sitton was
ever present to do the things that needed doing. In church
work his loyalty to the meek and lowly Nazarene never
faultered, while in civic work, in patriotic undertakings he
was-ever faithful, basing his every act on an abiding
faith in the good book and in the knowledge that God
;s good.
The Uaptist church in this city has witnessed many

from his people.
j Much mystery still surrounds the formula for the "death
ray" and as yet the world has U-en offered no proof of
,the powers claimed for it. Whether this demoniac ray
Will strike death to all that comes within its light is not
as vitally important to humanity as its application. The
discovery and its discoverer will be acclaimed boons ti;
civilization if the ray is employed in easing the burden
of mankind, but civilization should never forgive the n
vcnlow of the "death ray" if it is found that he has sold
hill formula to those bent on human destruction.
A ray with the supernatural powers claimed for the
"death ray" would be of inestimable value in agriculture
for the extermination of insects and for other air fumiga
tion pui-poses. Scientific research should not be retarded'

saw' fit. Peace and war have ever been rival suitors foi
the hand of science. Let the people bind pence and science
