cup sugar
. cup cocoa

issolve yeast and one table
spoon sugar In lukewarm milk;
add S cups of flour ami beat until
smooth. Cover and set aside to
rise in a warm place until light
..bout Vj hour. Add sugar and but
ter creamed, eggs well bea.tcn, co
coa, reniuinder of flour, or enough
to make soft dough, and suit.
Knead lightly; place in a greased
bowl. Cover and let rise in a
warm place until double in bulk
about two hours. Mould into
loaves; place in well greased bread
pans, filling them half full. Cover
and let .rise again until light
about one hour. Bake 40 to 50
minutes. The oven should be hot
first, and then moderate.

season's Argentine cotton crop Is
expected to reach 40.000 moirtc
tons, or more than 17C,unii bales,
according to indications, and it will
be the largest yet produced sine
cotton began to be grown on a
suluttaniial seale a few years ago.
The ministry of agriculture Is
giving all" encouragement possible
to cotton growing in the northern
provinces, which are said to offer
climatic and soil conditions capa
ble of making Argentina a great
cotton-producing nation.

1 pint water or meat broth
i pound cooked meat cut up
1 cup strained tomatoes
I teaspoon salt and pepper
6 tablespoons flour mixed with
lt cup water for thickening.
Cook the celery and onion in the
waie-r or broth, add the meat, to
mato juice, salt and pepper, then
the thickening slowly and boil five
minutes. Pour this mixture hot in
to a casserole, cover with a crust
made from the following direc-

Mix and sift the dry ingredients,
cut in the fat thoroughly with a
biscuit cutter, then add the milk
slowly. Pat the douxh out on a
floured board. Make the crust
about one inch deep. Place thi:;
on lop of the mixture In the bak
ing dish. The dish should be deep
enough so that the Ihrnld will not
boil up gver the .sides. Hake In a
hot oven 20 minutes.
