77ze Christmas
Tree
"The whole world in a Christmas
tree
And stars its many randies be."
The Christinas Tree has its origin
as the tree of the gift season in a
'medieval legend. This is a story of
the good Count Gorgas who awak
ened one night to find before . his
door a great Christmas tree hung
with lanterns and dazzling jewels.
From beneath this tree came an el
fin lady with a jeweled casket of
gifts as a reward to the Count for
his year of good deeds.

f , And the Christmas Tree, thus became the. tree of giving to
jf rriard our gifts of appreciation and love. .
if And there is another story about the Christmas Tree: '
y Candles were burned at an old Pagan festival in December
r as gifts to the God of Time. Twelve tapers, one' for each month,
were placed on fir trees and the men-y-making of the festival
'K v:is carried on about the tree. :
f Light and brightness are always associated with the happi-
0 ness of gift-giving, and we burn candles again .this year with
our gut-giving as a symnol 01 joy. , . .
