should like to lny before you becau.se of its state-wide 'importance;
"The article as you will note, deals with the possibilities of bring-,
int; to Oitiion a part of the vast tourist travel which crowds Cali-.
fornia each year. This very possibility was the one big factor in
our recent plan for tm exposition in Portland, but inasmuch as the
exposition idea was killed I have felt that we should nof stop but
should take some other course. Mr. Dennis' presents an idea and
a genera 1 plan which I believe can be carried out. j
"This plan in substance is to have Oregon, through its slate
Chamber of Commerce or other agencies, establish a tourist bureau
nt Los Angeles, which city is the acknowledged tourist center of
the Pacific coast. The details of this bureau and also the details
of where other bureaus and riders should ba established can be
worked out. It is planned to employ our effoita with the people
who' are ciuoute, rather than to try to. cover the entire country
and induce people to travel, , .
