Preparations for the Eleventh An
nual Buyers' Week to be I:H1 in
Portland, August i to 11 unlcn the
auspices ol the Chamber of cxun
mercft, are practically complete. All
plans are on a more elaborate scale
than, for any similar event. Jmlicil
tionfi are that in excess of 2,000 re
tail merchants from Pacific (.'oast
Mates. British Columbia, and Alaska
will be in attendance.
An -extensive program for the en
tertainment of the city's guests has
been arranged. There will be six
irmin attractions, and with one ex
ception they will be held at night.
On the evening of August (i,
there will be an inaugural liall in
lie largest ballroom in the Pacific
Northwest. Accommodations are be

The big surprise event of the week
will be "A Night in the Oii-sino," to
be held Tuesday night, August 7th.

of the city. Special features will be
provided at this event for women

The following day, the Portland
Ad1 iub will give it annual lunch
eon to visiting merchants m Laurel
hurst Park.. Many novel features
are being planned- In the evening
the annual v nshion Show will , be
hebl in one of the large theatres' of
the city at which scores of bcnutirful
prirls will appear in a fashion rouie
on an electrically lighted runway.
A moonlight excursion on tl'k-
'Willamette is scheduled for thr
evening of August !Hh. Two largi
excursion boats have .been chartereo
for, this event. On each will be or
chestras for dancing ami there will
be special entertainment stunts.
The largest banquet of mer
chants ever held on the Pacific Coast
is scheduled, for the evening of
August 10. It will be held in the
headquarters of the Chamber of
Commerce where two floors have
been reserved for the event.
Kach day during the week, jobber,
wholesalers ami manufacturers will
keep opeu house. Visiting buvers
will be received by heads of firms
and escorted through the establishments.
