"Trimmed In Scarlet" takes the
tongues of scandal anil their victim
and presents a dramatic, picture of
one ol the strangest situations the
screen has known; the situation of
a mother traveling the world over
in search of adventure nnd coining
back home to find a daughter who
has not been estranged from her by
the poisoned rumors that society ha
borne to her cars.

Waller Hiers, star of the, Para
mount comedy, "Sixty Cents an
Hour," which opened at the Star
theatre last evening, is a genuine
comedian, as the fine, reception ac
corded the picture amply proves.
This comedy is blight throughout
and tscampers along merrily to a
unique finish. The story is that of
a soda-jerker, a fat young man
working for a slim salary. One of
Jimmy Kirk's ambitions is to take
Mamie Smith, daughter of the bank
president of Zuvinu, out for an auto
mobile ride. When he hires a tour
ing car nt tho rate of sixty cents an
hour, the whole family pile in, and
Jimmy's day is spoiled. His second
attempt, however, is much more suc
cessful, for this time ho gets a road
ster and rides off in triumph.
Hut a dark plot is brewing; crooks
are on his trail, for under the seat
of the very car in which he is speed

coin, loot from the raided Zavina
bank, and they are determined to
get it. But this is a far harder
task; than they; had .anticipated, and
soon, they find themselves bound se
