THRILLING AKHIAL SCENES BIG
FEATURE OF PHOTOPLAY
"THE GO-GETTER" -
The most thrilling and picturesque
aerial tiutmes ever staged ior a mo
tion picture, it is said, were made
in the filming of "The Go-Getter," a
Oesmopolitan picturization of a Peter
B. Kyne story, which 1). II. Griffith
directed and which will be the feat
ure ut the Arcade Theatre for three
days beginning Thursday.
'"The shooting" of these scenes
took place at Curtis Aviation Field,
-Mineola,' and other parts of Long
Island and in the International Stu
dios in New York.
This particular part c,f the picture
entails nothing but night scenes, the
most spectacular of which is ope
showing a race between an aeroplane
and a speeding express train. This
scene is expected to be a revelation
when shown upon tile screen, espe
cially the part .where the speeding
train is shown as "shot" from the
flying aeroplane. It brings to the
screen seme directorial ingenuity and
also some exceptionally splendid
photography. .
In the , making of these aerial
scenes for "The. Co-Getter'' Director
Griffith had the co-operation of the
Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor corpor
ation, which roleased an nir machine
for certain "shots" that were taken
in the International Studios. Wil
liam J. MacMillan, assistant manag
er at curtiss field, designed the ap
paratus and supervised the setting
up of the aeroplane in the studio,
assisted by members of the Curtis
engineering staff: who worked out
various safety factors and perfected
otner details.
