Old-Time Sheriff in Toils
Jim Blakeslcy, one of the best
known men in Eastern Oregon and
old-time sheriff of Wallowa and
Crook counties, fell a victim to pro
hibition ngents, according to reports

arid dinner recently, Wallace
lEiikhead,, 70-year-old prospector,
who has lived forty years in tho
Marysville, Mout., mining diKtrict,
obtained a lift in an automobile
when within a few miles of Helena.
Before they had pone half a mile
in the machine a tire blew off and
Birkhead completed his trip afoot.
"I would have been here sooner,"
he told a friend, "but I was delayed
by an automobile ride- You can't
depend on them things when you're
in a hurry."
