When your motor gets wheezy or
i starts lc knock, and seeim: to have
loH its old pep and newness, it is
time to think about using a different
motor oil.
Possibly it has never occurred to
you that different motor oil might
give- your motor more newer. .Most
of us think of power a.
enirino liosiirn and fuel.
laet that oil hns a great neal lo io
with, power. Lubrication experts say
that almost any motor is well enough
' designed in ham!k crdinary hills,
provided that motor has not bc?n
abused by improper lubrication.
I Just how motor oil influences nio
!tor power is very simple. An im
; portant function of lubrcating oil
lis tc. fill up the space between the
'cylinder wall and the piston rings.
If this seal is perfect, there can be
I no loss of compression. No power
'escapes past the rings.
A proper piston seal is also im
portant to prevent raw gasoline get
jtiug into the crunkruse and diluting
.the nil. Oil dilution is dangerous.
iTco much dilution seriously affects
j the oil's lubricating qualities; and
j serious damage, such as burned out
bearings, scored cylinders, and so on,
j may result. Too great dilution is
J usually noticeable through your oil
j pressure gauge.
I The great value of a wholly dis
' tilled oil is that it makes it possible
I to use a heavier cil than you other
! wise coidd use It minimizes the
'danger of oil dilution because it can
stand more dilution. It keeps a bet
ter seal, therefore, between the cylin
der wall and piston ring; and a
more lasting seat because a wholly
distilled lubricant does not break
down as quickly as a compounded
oil.
An interesting experience which
illustrates this point is that cf a
driver of a two-year-old Buick car.
The car lacked pep and wouldn't
climb even small hills. The de

To the man on the street,
cement may seem nothing
more than an uninteresting
gray powder which is used
in construction work. But
to the chemist the trained
scientist who knows it
has a pedigree. To him ce

of a long series of chemical
end mechanical operations,
checked by the un remitting
watchfulness of modern
laboratory skill.
At every stage in its
manufacture from quarry
