My attention has been called to a
notice appearing t in the Observer
stating that certain advertisements
which has been run in my behalf is
an evidence of my determination to
work against the interests of the
Old Oregon Trail association and of
the Pageant to be held on July 4.
It is only my just due that the peo
ple should understand that this no
tice is utterly unfair. I am' not
against the Association and am not
against the Pageant. The fact is
merely this: that I own a body of
land at Meacham adjoining the lands
selected by the committee for the
Old Oregon Trail celebration. I of
fered to rent this land to the Pag
eant Association for less money than
I ran get for it from private persons.
The Association saw fit not to rent
the land. That was their business.
Now I desire to permit others to-use
the land if thuv wish to do so. This
