much toward u rousing and unit in:1;
the Mohammedan community. From

In 11)08, Mohani was charged with
sedition on account of an editorial
which appeared in his paper on the
Kngli: h policy in Kgypt. Although
this had hoeri wrtten by a student in
Aliga-rh 'ollege. the editor was held
lesponsihle for it and was sentenced
to two yeais imprisonment and a fine
of 500 rupees.
Upon being released from jail, h:
started his new-paper again, and also
opi ned a si ore where Indian products
were sold. At Inst, be was compelled
to work under great financial diffi
culties. Subsequently his paper was
again slopped by the government, and
he started another.
On several occasions, restraints
have been imposed on Mohani by the
government, but the last of these
were removed last Pccember. i He
