summer.
That oft repeated sfoiry of city water
comes un airain riuhl, here in the heart o
. Lawns and shrubbery surrounding the beautiful homes
in this city are gradually dying because the city manager
has issued an order on conservat i ii of water. It is
mighty discouraging for people to go to hundreds of dol
j lars of expenses and put in several years' time to make
' their homes' attractive and pleasant, only to see, the re
sults of their toil burn up for the lack of city water.
And this is all in face of a patent fa-t that l.a (Irande
as a municipality must have water sooner or later. The
citiy is growing and will continue to grow, which means
that a sufficient water supply must be provided I1 t
why not, now and' save the lawns?
Our present water system has been' discussed so much
that the Evening Observer is free to state it does not know
whether it is hud; of water in the mountains, lacked' prop
er pipe lines to convey the water to the city, or ineffic
iency in handling the problem.
We would like to know, and some of these days the
people who love La (irande, who have their investment's
here, and who.take pride in making this the most beauti
ful home city in Oregon -vy ill arise as one individual ami
demand the facts pertaining to the city water supply as
it exists at the present time.
