Ilanling has diiected that a general
meeting of the business organizations
of the government, to discuss admin
istrative economy, bo called during thi
latter part of January, it was an
nounced Wednesday by Director oj
the Budget Dawes.
President Harding will preside y
the meeting. Director Dawes said it
was the president's purpose to call
these meetings semi-annually. They
will be similar to the one held last
June, which was attended by all ad
ministrative government officials tro
the president down to bureau chiefs.
The president's immediate purpos?
in calling the January meeting, Mr.
I Dawes said, is to give persona in
structions in connection with the ad
ministration economy policy. The
president also, Mr. Dawes stated, will
outline the method which he desiies
followed in connection with compli
ance with the provisions of the act of
February 27, 190C, which provides a
'penalty for the creation of a deficiency
by a government official. This act,
which has never been enforced, pro
vides that a government official re
sponsible for the expenditure of any
rum in excess of appropriations made
by congress for that fiscal year may
be punished by a fine on not less than
than $100 or by imprisonment for not
less than one month.
