THE AVERAGE WOMAN
The life of the average woman is shown by a series of
tables arranged by a clever lady who has been giving the sub
ject intensive study. Tersely put, these are the results she finds:
Babyhood to 15 Childhood.
Fifteen to 18 Carefree time; fun, frivolity and beaux; 11
in every 100 marry between these ages.
. Eighteen to 24 Beginning to work, either for self-support,
r': money or a career; 30 of every 100 are wage earners and
ii in every hundred marry between these ages.
Twenty-four to 35 Lie in earnest, with 19 in every 100
j work and 79 married.
Thirty-five to 45 Anly 15 of the 100, working away from
home, while 83 are keeping house, bearing children and wis

Forty-five to 55 Fourteen of the 100 are still at work, th
rest in the home or independent. ' - -,-
Fifty-five to 65 Thirteen at work,- earning very small
wages; 21 are widowed. .
Sixty-five and later Forty-two out of every 100 are dead ;
60 are widows and 14, including some of the widows, are work
ing for negligible wages.
From her tables she readily deduces the lesson that it be
hooves the average woman to plan things in the springtime of
her life so that there will be fuel to keep the home fires burn
ing during the winter. She advises that girls should lay aside
a definite part of their earnings and invest them in good se
curities. As far us we can see there is nothing to bar young
men from heeding the same advice.
