Captain and Mrs. Purdy say the ef
fort waA a greater success than they
expected, both in attendance and f in-
nneinlly. Owing to conditions over
which no one seemed to have control,
the dinner was not up to the usual
standard given by the Salvation Army
nnd for this Captain nnd Mrs. Purdy
wish to apologize and promise the pub
lie that the next dinner will have bet
ter service and be a better dinner.
They also wish to thank the many peo
pie contributing in any way to the
effort and to say to those who con
tributed something and it was not
called for, that it was because of lack
of time. .
The total amount taken in on Sat
urday from the dinner, serving in the
evening, and the sale, amounted to
S1H.:!0. After the expense is met,
the balnncc will be used for winter re
lief work.
