pointed Dr. Henry Waldo, of Port
land, as chalruian of the Oregon Stain
Committee to co-operate with the
National Committee in a natior.-wldo
campaign, October 20 to 27 for a
110.000,000 Memorial Fund. Other
meiubem of the committee include:

Flegel, Portland; Mrs. Lawrence T.

The purpose of the campaign is to
raice funds for the election of suit
able monuments for the perpetuation
of the memory of Theodore Ruose
velt, the great American.
The fund is to be expended in er
ecting a monumental memorial in
Washington D. C, tho one city which
belongs to all Americans and which
was so long tho sceno of Roosevelt's
great labors for public welfare. AIbo,
for the purchase and maintenance of
a park at Oystor Bay, Including, at
some future date the Roosevelt home
at Sagamore Hill and the formation
of an association for the development
and application of Roosevelt Ideals.
The memorials are to bo the giftn
of the nation, the tribute which so
many thousands of men, women and
children have so ardontly desired as
a means of expression their recogni
tion and apprecli-.tlon of the ideals
and noble teaching for which Theo
dore Roosevelt lived.

Hartwig, president of the State Fed

principal speakers at the Labor Day
celebration in this city on September
