Police Have Busy Day 0

chief had to become nursemaid for r

war. The outfit was given 30 minute
to raise a dus't cloud between the city
and themselves, and it was evidently

The police court had another ense to
deal with of a local nature, the offen
ders being two men who were arrested
last night at a house of ill fame, ami
the woman who ran the house. The
men were fined $25.00 euch und thn
woman sentenced to 10 days in jail
and paroled on her promise of good
behavior.

Records at tho city hall of the
police department activities during
the month of August this year and
last year show that thli ty-two arrests
were made this year, as against
seventeen Jnst year. The extra
stringency with which the force in
enforcing traffic regulations likely
accounts for much of the increas.',

motorists. $3500 in fines was col
lected during the first six months J
of 1919. where only 1900 was col-;
