Washington Orchnrdists Will Use Five
Million to Insure Fruit Crop.
WALLA WALLA, Wash., April 28.
The services of 5,000,000 patriotic
ladybugs have been enlisted to insure
a bumper fruit crop in Washington
state this year.
the bugs were collected in the
mountains last fall. They have been
kept in cold storage, and are to ho
liberated in the Yakima, Wcnatrhi
and ilarkaton fruit districts. The
bugs kill off the aphis, the worst fruit
pest which farmers and horticulral
ists have to combat.
