BRITAIN MAY HELP IN
! PEACE AIR PROGRAM
j LONDON, Dec. 14. (By United
, Press, by mail.) The British gov
ernment may subsidize the air in
dustry to give it the nocesary finan
cial stability for rapid peace-time
commercial development.
I The air Bubsidy plan is being con
sidered by the air ministry among
! other proposals.
Under subsides It is hoped prl
ivate concerns soon would be build
ling thousands of commercial planee
land operating them as mail und
ipasHenger carrying vehicles. This,
it is pointed out, would insure em
ployment to thousands of expert
aviators trained during the war.
Furthermore, it would enable
Great Britain at all time to have an
immense air fleet at her disposal,
together with the necessary trained
aviators.
1 1 ir.e success oi me huusigv nan
as It was worked out in connection
with the merchant marine and the'
motor lorries is' being cited as one
'argument in favor of air subsides.
When war was declared, Great Brit
ain had at her disposal thousands
of merchant craft, many of which
quickly were transformed into
fighting ships Everybody remem
bers the hundreds motor lorries
which were sent to France -from
London And other cities. The lor
ries are much like the motor-busses
iused on Fifth avenue, New York.

"Whereas people are generally
