T The Great Conflict Is'
U I Ended. .
The greatest war in history; the
conflict that has entailed the sacri
fice of millions of llvua and drenched
the earth with-blood;, that-has brought
1 inexpressible sorrow and grief, is. at'
last at an end;
There ls no doubt although' titer
is much to be done to perfect and
adjust the Issues of the war that the
end has definitely come. Only an
'outline of the terms" of -surrender
have been given out officially and-the
administration of the same was en
trusted to Foch, the most distinguish
ed goncrallsslmo of modern times. It
'is not conceivablo that in his hands

tary beast of Europe hand and; foot

exacting fidelity to tho allied nations
mid to the' United States of. America.
-It Is grateful news.
( With Its attendant horrors and tHe
irrepurablo miseries inflicted,, there is
still left an uncontrollable pride in
what Americans have done to bring
'pliout tho'eml. It is an" exultant
achievement, ' ' '
Beforo the armistice was definitely
and surely signed, the American army
hud taken Sedan, the historic citadel
Vhieh fell into Prussian hands in the
!War of 1870, a miserable episode
which further fired the ambition of
a youthful German prince that' he1 was
to be the Instrument through which
the sword would sway the destinies of
the world.
Fateful Sedan: It is on' that same
ground that the fighting youth of
.America are in this holy hour demon
strating that might enforces right.
From Scilun to Berlin and back again
will spread the news that the aveng
ing sword is unsheathed and will not
be put asldu until tho human rights
of all the world are made secure forever.

; Another Liberty Loan la
Coming.
Secretary f the Treasury McAdoo
has announced that, no matter what
tho results of the pending overtures
for pence muy be, there will he an
other I.ibeity loan. To use his ex
pression, "Wo are going to have to
finance pence for a whiie just as we
have hail to finance war."
' There are over 2,000,000 United
States soldiers abroad! 'If wo trans
port these men back to tho United
States at the rate of 300,000 a month,
it will be over hnlf a year before they
are all returned. Our army, there,
fore, must bo maintained, victualed,
and' clothed for ninny months after
pence is an artunlity.
The American people, therefore,
hnving supported the Liberty loan
with a patriotism that future histor
ians will love to extol, Will have an
opportunity to show tho same patrio
tism in financing the just and conclu
sive victorious pence' whenever it
comes.
Not for a momont, however, is the
treasury acting on any assumption
that peace is at hand. Until peace ia
actually ansured tho attitude of the
whole United States government ii
for the most vigorous prosecution of
ftie war, and the motto of force against
Germany without stint or limit will
be acted up1 to until peuce is an abso
lute accomplished fact
One more Liberty loan, at lenst, is
certaim The fourth loan was popu
larly called the "Fighting Loan"; the
next loan may be a fighting loan, too,
or it may be a peaco.lonn. Whatever
the- conditions, t'he, loan must)- be pre
pared for and its success rendered cur
tain and aboslutc:
Do Not Sell Your Liberty
'., Borlda... ,...
The wide distribution among mil
lions of American citizens of Liberty
loan ' bonds makes our Liberty loans,
according to Secretary of tho Treas
ury McAdoo's expressed opinion, tho
aouridest of national financing. That
these bonds be kept widely distributed
amongst the American people is of
great importance to the nation and to
the individual holders of the bonds.
United States government bonds in
the past have gone above par, ns high
as 1S9 for a 100 four per cent bond.
That Liberty bonds will go well above
par When peace comes is very prob
able. Holding one's Liberty bonds,
therefore, is wise as well as patriotic.
Every holder of a Liberty loan bond
should' heed' the caution to' hold to his
op her bonds,, because there are going
to be great efforts by shrewd and
unscrupulous' people to buy or secure
at-'inadequate prices these bonds from
holders who are not well informed ns
to stock and bond values.
Worthless or near-worthless stock
or stock of only speculative vuluc
wildcat stocks" they ore called are
going to be offered for Liberty bonds.
Some will be urged not to soil or ex
change' their Liberty bonds, but to buy
the stock and give1 the Liberty bonds
as security for the purchase price.
This is a camouflaged attempt to get
Liberty bonds in exchange for the
stock of their compnnies.
If every holder of a Liberty bond
will consult a bank before he disposes
of it, the gut-rich-quiik concerns will
not prosper, but tho individual bond
holders will, and the American people
as a whole' will bo benefited.
