Dr. Boyd, of the First Presbyterian
church, of Portlund, will lecture in
Joseph Thursday of this week. The
place has not yet been determined. .
Dr. Holmes and family, of Walla
IWalla, who have been camping at the

for their home. '
Mr. and Mrs. George Boner were La
Grande visitors last week.
Dr. W. E. Hrowncll, of Elgin, is in

present: Dr. Brownell is seventy-five
years old nnd fought four years In the
civil war. Despite his age, the doctor
is active and heulthy. He expects to
go to the G. A. K. encampment in
Portland on the 19th of this month, as
will several of the Joseph members of

Mis. E. L. Coe, wife of former Su
perintendent of Joseph schools E. L.
Coe, expects to visit old friends, b Jos
