the trial of H. Earl Jeffries on a
charge of importing litiuor.
Some days ugo Shoriff Taylor con
fiscated a trunk at euch of the two
railway Btatlons here and arrested
Jeffries as the owner of both. When
one of the trunks was opened in the
court room today it was found to be
full of bottled liquor, but, In each
cor nor of tho top tray, wus packed a
cigar box containing a few marbles.
Their purpose, it is assumed, was to
make a noise like an honest trunk
in order to divert attention from the
real contents.
