This afternoon I did my .washing,
so took my clothes to public wash
house and took my place alongside
the French women and scrubbed my
clothes on the rock edge of. the tank,
with a brush, tho same as they did.
They would jabber away and 1 couldn't
toll whether they wore talking about
me or not.
French seems very difficult to learn,
but if a person ys s word of French
to a Frenchman, they 'will tear off a
lino of lingo t you and, of course,
we look intelligent and say "oui, our'
(meaning yes, yes, and pronounced
J'wce, wee") to everything they say.
We have had no mail, except for a
few papers nnd n letter or two. One
mail is mixed up somewhere, and 1
will certainly be glad when it comes,
Reading matter is scarce, as the " "
hasn't received its supply of books and
magazines yet.
We co to bed about 7 o'clock (no
Joking) S3 there isn't much else to do,
Thre are quite s number of pati
ents at tho hospital, mostly measles
and mumps, tat I have had no nursing
to do yet, so I haven't been in any of

Way before yesterday an Observer
arrived In camp and there was a
grand rush-for it. It was dated Oc
tober 10, and the headlines were the
message icnt from Camp Mills, saying
we were not submarined.
It surely scemcil good to get some
home news.
We are planning on n big feed for
Thanksgiving, but don't know if it
will become a reality.
Well, I guess there is no mora news
at present, so will close. We are oil
