Dear nrotlier:
I havo just been out buying a
French meal. We thought we would
buy a few enns of jam to take along
with us so I pointed out three cans
that looked llko Jelly. Wo wero un
fortunate enough to draw ono can
of .beans and two of sour prunes. All
we needed was some canned salmon
to make it a regular military meal
I expect I will have to learn this
French langungo. Every lime I buy
anything I think they beat mo out
of a few sous. I bought some gloves
tonight marked 2F9 and she charged
mo two francs and 19 cents. I said
to her "You stung mo sister," but
she just smiled and said "Oni, on I,
(wee, wee) meaning "yes, yes."
Wo are still digging holes In the
ground and carrying wood. I would
not mind using a pick it I didn't get
,my hands so dirty.

Fritz, however, is a husky lad, much
more so than either the French or the
English. Most of tho Germans arc
good Blzed men and strong appearing
but the larger they are the harder
they fall. War is a bad thing but
tho more I see of It the more I am
convinced that we must crush them
completely.
Most of tho boys are quite well.
There have been a large number of
colds but otherwise nothing to
amount to anything.

appreciate it very much. Give my '
