County Clerks Meet

rush of men of draft age to navy,
Marine corps and army recruiting
stations is steadily increasing.
Hundreds of men, facing conscrip
tion, are enlisting every day in the
Pacific northwest, preferring to be re
cruits in a service of their own choice
than conscript soldiers. .
Men of draft age cannot enlist after
noon Saturday.
Reports received hero the first of
this week declare recruiting offices
throughout the northwest are jammed
with applicants. Rccruiling officers
are working overtime. The navy re

world's largest smockstack stands
