Meridian, their engine broke a rod
and stripped all the gear on one side.
After considerable delay" they limped
into Meridian, but having no air, they
ware unable to stop and crashed
head on into the engine of the train
bound out for Boise. They arrived at
Nampa too late to catch number l'J

They expect to remain in La Grande

into the portrayal. Adele DeGarde
scores a distinct hit as Aggie, the
happy-go-lucky, witty-tongued girl,
the character that those who saw
the stage play will remember well.
Mies DeGarde is substantially helped
by sub-titles, probably from the orig
inal manuscript, which are gems of
piquant clang. Another among the
players deserving special mention Is
Eugene O'Rourke, who, with a good
part, geto plenty of Jaughs from the
audieno because his depiction is so
unerringly and comically true to life.
Dlllle Billings, Anders Randolf, Wal
ter McGrall and Robert Galllard are
other players prominent in the sup
port. "The picture Is bo'Vid to "get

high class. Intelligently prepared en

atmosphere are more than acceptable
and the photography Is up to the Vit

Wallowa stock men are constantly
improving their cattle and are largely
running to Shorthorns, so Mr. Smith
states. This year they have sold their
herds down rather close, owing to the
attractive prices that have prevailed.
They feel assured of plenty of hay
this winter if the weather is not ex
tra severe and there seems to be every
indication of an open winter.
".Enterprise has had a wonderful
growth, a steady growth justified by
surrounding -conditions. It has in:
creased from 1240 at the last census
to about 3500 today.
vThe valley raises hay, wheat,- oats
and barley and is an ideal stock coun
try. All roads and canyons lead to
and center in Enterprise and all the
stock country for 40 miles is tributary
to the town, owing to Joseph creek
and other canyons shutting them off.
Enterprise is growing steadily and is
continuing to grow.
