OAKLEY, Kan., Nov. 13. The de
spised KansaB Jack rabbit Is coming
into his own. For years the long
eared speedster of the plains has been
copsidered a pest almost equal to the
coyote, to be killed and let lie. A
Kansan would never thing of eating
a jack rabbit.

ups." On an appointed day hunt

Is not uncommon for. thousands of
rabbits to bo killed In a single round
up. Until last winter the carcasses had
always been left where the rabbits
wore killed. Last season, howovor,
the profiteers began buying rabbits
and Blilpplng them to custom mark
ets In refrigerator cars. Kansnus
who visited New York cafes were
surprised to see the same old jack
rabbits they had turned up their j
noses at nil their lives served as
"hares" and bringing an astounding
prlco.
This winter the shipping of rab
bits will be more i-xtenslre than
ever. Already buyers are arrang
ing big liuutB and preparing to
start shipping.
