Union county, Oregon, will convene at
the court house, La Grande, on Mon
day, September 11, 1917, and publicly
examine the assessment roll, correct
all errors in valuation, descriptions
or qualities of land, lots or other
property, as assessed by the county
assessor, and it shall be the duty of
all persons interested to appear at
the time and place given.
All persons having grievances re
garding the 1917 assessment may ap
pear before such board and present
their affidavits containing grounds for
complaint. AH such affidavits must
be presented during the first week of
the meeting of the board.

Minam Lumber Co., a corporation, has
filed with the Public Service Com
mission of Oregon an application for
a franchise on the Minam River in
Union and Wallowa Co'unties, Oregon,
between a point on the south section
line of section fifteen (15), Township
Three (3) south of Range Forty-Two
(42), E. W. M., to the conjunction of
the Wallowa River and said Minam
River section Twenty-Nine or section
Thirty (29 or 30), Township Two(2)
North, Range Forty-One (41), E.W.
M., for the purpose of driving, catch
ing, booming, sorting, floating, rafting
and holding lumber, logs and other
products, upon said river, pursuant to
the provision of Chapter 128 of the
Laws of Oregon for the year 1917, and
claims a preference right to such a
franchise on so much of said river as
is covered by the application, and that
the Public Service Commission of
Oregon gives notice of a hearing to
bo held upon such application at the
county court house in the city of I .a
Grande, Oregon, on Wednesday, the
19th day of September, 1917, at the
hour of nine o'clock a. m., at which
time and place all parties to said pro
