ARCADE
MARGARET ILLINGTON IN GRIP
PING DRAMA
Margaret Illington, the distin
guished star of the speaking stage,
will make her debut on the photodra
matic screen in tho gripping and
vivid drama, "Sacrifice," -written es
pecially for her by Charles Kcnyon
and prepared for tho screen by Be
atrice C. De Millo and Loighton Os
tium. "Sacrifice" is a Lasky-Para-mount
picture which will bo thp at
traction at the Arcade today and to
morrow. An unusual incident is in the fact
that Miss Illington will mako her
screen debut in a story by the same
author in whoso play, "Kindling," she
i scored here greatest dramatic tri
umph. As soon as the story "Sacri
fice" appears on the screen, Mr. Ken
yon will prepare a version of it for
the speaking stage.
Ever since her first appearance be
fore the footlights, Miss Illington has
been one of the most distinguished
and popular stars on tho American
stage. Her wonderful performance
in "The Thief" which ran for over a
year in New York City, established
Miss Ilington as one of the country's
most successful emotional actresses.
Later she repeated her success in
"Kindling," which was hailed by all
as one of the most unus.il and appeal
ing plays of the decade.
Still later, Miss Illington won fresh
laureals in "Within the Law." In
'Sacrifice" Miss Ilington plays a dual
role that of tho daughter of a high
Government official and as a notorious
dancer in a small principality of Eu
rope. To play a double role requires
a great deal of knowledge of dra
matic technique and experience before
the camera, but so adaptable was Miss
Illington to the silent art that she was
given this unusual task at the outset.
The Lasky company has surrounded
Miss Ilington with a cast of unusal
excellence, including Jack Holt, Win
ter Hall and Noah Berry.
The scenes, laid as they are amid
the principalities of Europe, are un
usual in their beauty and the produc
tion is made in the usual thorough
Lasky manner under the direction of
Frank Reicher.
Are You One of Them?
There are a great many people who
would be very much benefited by tak
ing Chamberlain's Tablets for a weak
or disordered stomach. Are you one
of them? Mrs. M. R. Searl, Bald
winsville, N. Y., relates her experience
in the use of these tablets: "I had a
bad spell with my stomach about six
months ago, and was troubled for two
or three weeks with gas and severe
pains in the pit of my stomach. Our
druggist advised me to take Chamber
lain's Tablets. J took a bottle home
and the first dose relieved me wonder
fully, and I kept on taking them until
I was cured." These tablets do not
relieve pain, but after the pain has
"been relieved may prevent its recur
rence. Adv.

Bluebird Photoplays, Inc., are send
ing to the Colonial theatre today and
tomorrow their newest and most en
gaging production', "The Girl in the
Checkered Coat," in which Dorothy
Phillips will interpret the two leading
characters representing the two
sisters utterly unlike in personal ap
pearance and temperamental char
acteristics. Photographic trickery will
enter largly into the possibilities that
' create some remarkable illusions
scenes wherein Miss Phillips will drag
her own insensible self from room to
. room, meet and converse with herself,
.walk with herself and bend over her
self as she is, herself, seated in a
great arm-chair giving herself her
own personal opinion of herself ns she
represents simultaneously, the two
separate characters. Reads oddly but
it will be proven to be, nevertheless,
true in all particulars, when this sen
sational entertainment is unfolded for
the enjoyment of local picture "fans."
