Huckins Jumps To .
Avoid Car Accident
' Word has just been received regard
ing the death of George Huckins who
was killed at Vancouver, B. C. He
was riding in an auto with two other
men and in coming bo a car crossing,
Huckins apparently thought the auto
would collide with the oncoming elec
tric car. Just as he jumped from the
auto to avoid the collision, the auto
driver turned his auto sharply and
threw Huckins under the electric car.
He was cut in two.
He will be buried at 'Blaine, Wash
ington, tomorrow.

Russell Spiker, who was injured In
the eyes by a firecracker on the 4th
was in the city today and his condi
tion under the circumstances are all
that can be asked. The eyeballs are
slightly burned but not enough to
produce loss of eyesight unless new
complications set in.
The condition of young Jack Rog
ers is not so favorable as yesterday
as his eyes seem more inflamed and
painful. He is being kept in a dark
room today. No fear is felt over his
slight change of condition.

of Christianity." In a clear, force
ful manner he brought the whole

"You must make the Bible inter
esting," said Dr. Roe. "I like to know
something about a text I had not
thought of before. Suggest, question,
stimulate. Arouse the curiosity. Al
ways use the laws of suggestion by
speaking in positive terms. Adapt the
lesson to evcry-day life. The teach
ings of the Bible can be made alive
by fitting them "to present day sins
and needs. Thus far might the min
ister be excused for lecturing on poli
tics or some issues of the day if he
can show how the Bible teachings
solve the problem."

Dr. H. M. Bouvy gave a lecture to
the Honor Guard girls last night on
the eyes.. Dr. Bouvy is a pleasant
and forceful speaker and as a special
ist on eyes he had his subject well in
hand. The care and proper use of the
eyes with the things to be feared were
all gone into clearly and explained
clearly. The information received was
a revelation to many.
