Predicts Jewish
Nation In Palestine
New York, July 5. -(United Press)
A Jewish nation with modern cit
ies, a free government and a popula
tion of two million will 'be established
in Palestine after the war, in the
opinion of Nathan Strauss, philan
thropist. He looks for a marked ex
odus of Jews from the United States
and other countries, back to their
fatherland. Religious Jews, he be
lieves, will not hesitate to give up
their wealth and property in America
and return to Palestine to fulfil the
Biblical prophecy. Strauss also ex
pects thousands of Christians to go
there. "We will establish a govern
ment along whatever lines the allies
suggest," declared Strauss. "There is
no selfishness about it. The Bible
says we will have our own country
bnck and the allies are winning it
back. They must decide what is
best."
He indicated however, that a repub
lican form of government under a
protectorate of the powers would be
best. Asked whether the country
would be modernized, as Manila has
been, he said:
"Given half a chance we will make
it the paradise of the earth. It will
be up-to-date in every particular. The
Palestine soil is bettor than that of
California I'm satisfied of that
through my own experiments. The
Jewish nation will bo self-supporting.
I don't think we will establish great
industries and compete in the world
trade because the country will be
more of a religious community than a
commercial one. Palestine will sup
port two million people, and it only
has (500,000 now. Educationally and
religiously it will be the promised
land of the whole world."
Christ to make merchandise of you,
as well as others, "Whose judgment
now of a long time lingereth not, and
their damnation slumbereth not." (2d
Pet. 2:3).
"Trusting your organization suc
ceeds in delivering the death blow to
this unscriptural practice, which keeps
"Sectarianism" alive and puts a burd
en upon the unsupecting customer
who, in the end, must pay the bill."

against the soliciting of merchandise
to be used as prizes at church fairs.
The Spokane Retail Merchants Bur

fighting tho practice of giving prizes
for all sorts of purposes but instead,
will have a central committee which
will nass unon such requests and then
make one donation in cash covering
tho obligation for nil the retailers.
Commenting on this plan the Rev. J.
S. Hays says:
"This is a move in the right direc
tion, since, according to the teaching
of Christ and tbe Holy Spirit guided
apostles (.Ino. 10:1:?. Acts. 1:4, Gal.
1:12) the Church of Christ is not, an;l
never was, authorized to seek, or even
accept, a contribution from those who
were not members of the churcn.
