SO FAR NUMBERS 1527
The following figures taken from
the summary of the War Census
board show that the total num
ber registered up to date is 1527
in Union County, according to County
Clerk McCormick. Alien citizens
registering besides this wore 98. There
was 832 of those registering that in
dicated exemptions, one alien enemy
registered, being the term applied t9
a German who has not become natur
alized. The official summary will ap
pear in a later edition.
HONOR GUARD TO CONVENE
AT COLUMBIA BEACH
Astoria, Ore., June 8. A majority
of the 6,000 members of the Girls'
Honor Guard of Oregon are expected
to attend tho encampment to be held
at Columbia beach near here in July
and August. State officials are mak
ing plans for the encampment today.
The girls will train for war time ac
tivities. ...
Golf-.-rs Sacrificed.
London, June 8. (United Press)
Two more famous British golfers
have mnde their sacrifices for the Al
lied cause. David Watt, holder of the
Scottish professional championship,
died in a London hospital following
the amputation of a' leg, which was
shattered by jhrapnel at Vimy Kidge.
Frank Carr, the English amateur in
ternationalist, is reported missing.
