announced Wallace Reid, the popular
Lasky star who will he seen with
Myrtle Stedman at the Arcade on
Friday and Saturday in the Lasky
Pnrnmount production "The Prison
Without Walls." Mr. Rcid was in a
gray prison uniform and was indus
triously planing away on a piece of
lumber in the work shop in one of the
well known penitentiaries, when he
made this statement, and was still
breathing a little heavily from a bat
tle he had just finished with a drug
crazed prisoner.
"Of course," ho remarked, referring
to the fight he had just finished,
"that doesn't amount to much, be
cause there was only one man, but
when they send four, or five, or six
after men, and they all know thore is
a standing olTer around the studio of
a cash bonus if I can be licked, it
makes it more difficult. Even though
it is only for the camera, when five or
six men start after you and you know
that they are going to give you a
boating if possible, you have to be on
your guard. They don't care how
much thoy hurt me, and naturally I
can't bo particular about them. I
have had the habit of picking up one
of my adversaries and using .him as
ja club against the others and some
times they are too quick for mo and
this can't be done.
"If I can get my back up against
i the wall so that they can not jump on
me from behind, then 1 can take care
of myself. Whenever it is possible
to do so without having it show in
tho picture, I tape my wrists before
going into tho fight, because that
seoms to be the weakest portion of
my anatomy and I nm always strain
ing them.
"But I love a good battle and I nm
sure everyone else docs too. That's
why I try to make them as realistic
as possible."

United States have uttered1 this shout
of joy during the past decade; they
have set their alarm clocks and got
ten up at daylight to go down to tlie
station and meet the train; to watch,
wide-eyed and with open mouths as
the bands of Indians, tho cowboys,
buffaloes and horses detrained and
moved to the circus lot where the big
tents were being erected. Later they
saw the big parade, and then gathered
in the tent to watch the famous
nlainsman and his show.
"Buffalo Biill" is dead now, and his
show the tented one will never
again be seen. But "Buffalo Bill
has left us a more thrilling show than
was ever witnessed before. It is fcS
sanay's current feature, "Advontures
of 'Buffalo pill," which is coming to
the Colonial theatre Saturday.
A year or two before Col. Cody
died, the picture was filmed by Es-
sanay. It is an historically accurate
account of the famous Indian fight
er's life. It shows "Buffalo Bill"
the actual man first in the early
days of his career in the wilderness;
it carries him on through his battles
with the Indians showing them just
as they occurred through his great
hunting trips; and gives intimate
climnses of his life up until his
death.
Five thousand Indians and United
States troops wore used in the film
ing of this stupendous picture. Major
General Nelson A. Miles and other
great leaders of the nation's pioneer
array also are shown.
The picture requires one hour and
15 minutes to be exhibited, its thrills
make one forget the time.
Central station power is used to op
erate 3,000 looms in a Salem, Mass.,
cotton mill. Each loom is operated
by a half of three quarter horse-G-E
electric motor.
