Sinclair sings in a beautiful soprano
voice. Here it might be stated that
Miss Sinclair was taken for a local
lady and the Arcade management had
a hard time to convince some of the
audience that Miss Sinclair is Mrs.
Bull in private life and hails from CaL
infornia. The lady wears some stun
ning gowns and the act stopped the
show the audience wanted more.
Tonight will be the last night of
this show in this city in connection
with the regular picture program.

"The Spoilers" which is to bo pre
sented by W. N. Sellg at Sherry's for
a brlof engagement of two days, Sat
urday and Sunday, holds an undisput
ed record of playing to more people
than any other picture which has ever
been produced. In New York, Chi
cago, Los Aivgcles, San Francisco,
Portland and Seattle, thousands were
unabe to gain admission. In San
Francisco the local theatre manage
ment opened their doors at 0:80 in
the morning. This is unprecedented
in the history of the motion-picture given her the role of am actress until
business. Still they were unable to she played Fifi in "The Fortunes of

"HIPP" ACTS MAKE HIT.
Ever since his arrival in the world
a world which has, been made so
happy by his existence when the
stork's scales registered his weight as
16 pounds Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's
lucky number has ibeen sixteen. These
figures are inextricably entwined with
his thread of life and so many mo
mentous things have occurred on the
Kith that the screen comedian has be
come more than superstitious about
the smybol. It is a religion with him
now.
Not only did he weigh 16 pounds
when he first saw the lippht of dav,
but he was bom on the 16th day of
March, 1886. He has been 16 years
in the theatrical profession and was
married to Minta Durfee on the 16th
of the month.
Negotiations for his present busi
ness affiliations with Joseph M.
Schenck were begun on the 16th of
last December, consummated on the
16th of January and the contracts
formally signed on the 16th of Feb
ruary. On March 16th he left Los
Angeles on his triumphant journey
across the continent to begin work in
New York on his first Paramount
comedy, "The Butcher Boy," which
was released April 23rd. bv Para
mount on the open market plati.
Originally the intention was to re
lease "The Butcher Boy" on the 16th
of April but exchange conditions ne
cessitated the date being' set back one
week. But even in this instance the
number sixteen could not be side
tracked for there are 16 people in the
company apeparing with him in "The
Butcher Boy," and there will be 116
prints made of this Paramount Ar-
buckle comedy.
Further evidence of his association
with the figure 16 is provided by the
tact that he is a member of 16 clubs.

The three act Hippodrome vaude
ville show at the Arcade last night
was certainly all knock-outs; each act
was met with great applause and the
audience was loth to let each one give
way -to the other.
Tom Queen and La Petite Ruth
opened the performance. Their act is
comedy dancing, singing and mono
logue and Mr. Queen with his funny
sayings and dancing kept the audience
in an uproar. The DeBeers Sisters
ni"e beautiful girls and beautiful
dancers with beautiful costumes. Their
act is a very high class variety of
character and toe dancing. The in- ;
cidental music for the act is beautiful.
Next comos Ball and Sinclair with an
act that has never been excelled in
tho city. Mr. Ball can and does play
the banjo and before he was through
the audience was carried away with
tho rhythm of his raggy music. Miss
Propellers of Nation Discuss Draft.
New York, May 10. (United Press)
The probable effect of the draft up
on tne electrical industry was dis
cussed today in an executive session of
the National Electric Light Associa
tion here.. The association has
abandoned its plans for an immense
electrical show and convention at At
lantic City June 1.
The extent to which the industry can
redistribute its 150,000 employes al
lowing men for the army and still light
and propel the nation was the major
question brought up. Whether men
drafted should be assured their po
sitions on return from the . army,
whether pay should go on, and a pol
icy on pensions were discussed.
