Hints on the Choice of Clothes
A point or two (or you young men to keep in mind
in selecting a spring suit:
The coat should fit closely enough so that in buttoning
the middle (or top) button it is necessary to force the
garment just a trifle, thus accentuating the waist line.
The correct coat collar this year sits rather flatly
about the neck.
The old high-standing effect in the collar is passe.
The length of the trousers should be just enough to
hang clear of the shoes without breaking with the
bottoms absolutely straight, and not hollowed above

John Komp, a wealthy man, after
tho announcement of his engagement
to Eleanor Dutton, overhears her de
clare- her lovo for another man, at the
same time state that ahe must marry
Komp for his money. Heart-broken,
Kemp goes to tho mountain wilder
ness, hlcanor marries the man she
loves, and Kemp marries the Moromg
Star, an Indian. They have a daugh
ter, Alona, whom Kemp idolizes. She
meets Frank Colvin, a poor young
prospector, and they become greatly
attached to each other. Kemp feels it
his duty to return to civilization in or
der to complete Alona's education. He
places her in a fashionable boarding
school. Upon learning that she is of
Indian blood, tho girls snub her, only
one, Myra Agnew, being kind.
Myra takes Alona home with her
at Christmas time, that she may meet
her brother Blinn, in the hopes that
ho will marry her. Alona, by acci
dent, learns that Blinn cares only for
her fortune, and upon the death of her
father, she returns to her people, em
bittered. She again meets Frank
Colvin, who declares his love for her.
She decides to lest him, and buys his
mine through an unknown agent. He
.returns to the city, seeks out Alona,
and promises to bring his mother and
sister to see her. The mother and
sister, however, having been informed
that Frank intends to marry an In
dian, call on Alona, and when they
see her real beauty, tell her they do
not wonder Frank loves her, and plan
a big surprise for him. That night
Alona sends her car for Frank, and
accompanied by his mother and sis
ter, they are driven to Alona's beau
tiful mansion. Here he finds her,
transformed from the simple Indian
maiden he believes her to be, into a
. wondrously gowned heiress.
Now that Alona is satisfied he loves
her for herself alone, she reveals her
real identity, and their happiness is
complete.

Over 300 children of the La Grande
Public schools entertained their par
ents and the citizens of the city Mon
day and Tuesday evening with a de
lightful ncert and operetta. The
dances and songs given by the pupils
were very prettily executed and wore

tho leading hits of the evening. The
music was under the direction of Miss
Hindman, music instructor of the
schools while Miss Tozicr, girls' ath
letic director, coached the dancing.

was turned over to the school board
repaying them for money sed for
various activities. The children tak
ing part in the entertainment were
their respective schools,
having been together but once before
tne concert was given.
