"The Revolt," Strong World Picture
A life of luxury, with swell gowns
and brilliant jewels or a modest lit
tle home and a babe? Which would
you choose. That is the question put
up to Francis Nelson in "The Re
volt." Needless to say, she chooses
the latter, and can you blame her
when the "he" i3 Arthur Ashley? But
that was only the beginning of their
troubles. Anna, eg she is called in
the picture, had a stepmother, one
with a lax code of morals, and who
would rather see her stepdaughter
magnificently gowned and the pet of
some none too scrupulous individual
than in the arms of a home-loving
and honest man. This is not a play of
the usual triangle variety, but one I
with unusually original denouement
It is a Brady-Made (World Picture.

A tall fence around a

attractive to those on the

DID YOU KNOW THAT
Two hundred and twenty-three thou
sand feet of celluloid or forty-two
miles of film, were taken for William
Fox' "A Daughter of the Gods" which
comes to Sherry's theatre April 28
and 29.
Twelve hundred women were em
ployed in Jamaica to make the mag
nificent costumes in "A Daughter of
the Gods?"
Annette Kellcrmann, star of "A
Daughter of the Gods" and the great
est water sprite of the century, is a
native of Australia?
Twenty thousand persons appear in
many of, the stupendous scenes of
William Fox' million dollar picture?
A hundred photoplaycrs and a large
staff of technical experts spent eleven
months in Jamaica making "A
Daughter of the Gods?" The weekly
payroll was $22,000.
Shipbuilders were brought from
Egypt to construct the curiously fan
tastic Byzantine vessels which are in
"A Daughter of the Gods?"
The erection of the giganitc Moor
ish city on the ruins of Fort Augusta
required one-third of the huge sum
which William Fox expended on "A
Daughter of the Gods?"
In 1900 William Fox, who spent an
unparullclcd amount of money for a
silent drama production, had just

Most of the terribly busy gnomes in
"A Daughter of the Gods" are in
reality, little "black boys" from the
West Indies ?
More than a thousand tons of prop

the United States to Fort Augusta,
where William Fox' million dollar Kel

Every scene in "A Daughter of the

THE FORUM
ON THE CAT QUESTION
La Grande, Ore., April 19. (To
the editor) I note by the evening
paper that it is recommended that an
ordinance be passed placing cats on
the same basis as dogs, end making
them wear bells suspended from their
necks to protect the birds and prevent
disease. Just what disease will the tax
and bell prevent and how are the
rats, mice and moles to be disposed
of? Certainly not by the cat that
wears the bell.
Signed One who does not own a
cat but who does own a home which
she does not wish infested by filthy
rats ana mice.
Bird Hcuse Contest.
Tho 'Bird House contest has been
extended until tho first of May be
cause of the late spring, a number of
the contestants petitioned the judges
to extend the contest so that - they
could go out in the woods for their
materials. There are a large number
who are building bir houses and the
results when announced will surprise
many.
Needs to be conserved as well
as the many other things we
are urged to save. After de
ducting cost of soap, fuel and
other supplies she can't make
even "starvation wages" by
doing her washing at home.
