their services free to soldiers, Ser

Press) A trip to eternity costs more
than 25 cents. Henry Lochenmeyer,
florist, ought to know. He tried it and
it didn't work. Henry dropped Zt

Reverend Young who held revival
meetings here for a week in the Telo
caset hall aroused great interest
among the people in this community.
Sundny School and Young Peoples'
meetings were organized and church
services are to be held every other

ing. Mrs. Lucindn Ixw died of paralysis
at th home of her son William Henry
at 8 o'clock Sunday morning about
six miles south of Telocaset.
Lucinda Foster was born at Hays-
villo Ohio, Sept. 23, 182(1. Hr folks
moved to Michigan when she was 12
yeans of age and later moved to Elk'
heart, Indiana, where she was mar
ried to Edward Low in 184fi. In 1858
they moved to Iowa and come to Union
County in 1804 where they have re
sided since. Five children were born
to them, four whom are living, George
at Ashland, Ore., Albert at Los An
geles, Calif., Mrs. Mary Wilkes at
Wenatche, Wash:, and William Henry
at Telocaset. There are twenty
grandchildren and twenty-nine great
grandchildren living. Interment took
'place at Union Tuesday.
Two Telocaset boys have already
gone to the front. Lloyd Anson left
with tho Idaho regiment and Dick
Hill who belongs to tho Navy left
Wednesday for Annapolis where he
will join his company.
Mrs. Pearl Brooks returned Fridny
from (Baker whoro she has been under
the doctor's care.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eames Were bus
iness visitors in Baker Saturday.
Charles Devore was in La Grande
Tunsday on business.
Albert Anderson made a business
trip to North Powder Monday.
M. F. Evans was in La Grande on
business Monday morning.

Albany, Ore., April 18. (United
Press) Ethel Stuck, 22, who read all
the war news sho could find, was conv
mittcd to the asylum here. "Over-
worried by the war," say the physl
cians who examined her.
Pendleton, April 18. The annual
convention of the Oregon State Edi
torial association will be held hare
July 13, 14 and 15. The Commercial
association is making extensive plans

Pullman Wash., April 18. (United
Press) A demonstration train simi
lar in scopo to the one now on the
road in Oregon is planned by the
Oregon-Washington Railroad & Navi
gation company to bo sent over its
lines in Washington. It will be sent
out from Pullman today to Palouse
and Yakima towns. The train is op
erated by the railroad company with
tho co-oporation of the extension ser
vice of tho Washington state college.

oh my! This is a pleasant as well as
novel act and Little Jerry possesses a
catching personality and is a tip-top
entertainer.
Frank and Clara La Tour have just
closed a successful season of one year
in Australia and New Zealand. This
act 'has been played in Mexico, South
America Australia and New Zealand
The lady in the act is a well known
New York dress and cloak model.
They have contracts to play South
Africa next season.
Jimmie James has a musical song
and dance novelty and has just closed
a tour of the coast. His strong xea-
ture is a $750 white ivory piano ac-
cordeon awarded a prize at San Fran
cisco World's fair, P. P. I. E. 1915.
This act has also played all over Eu-
ropo and returned last winter from a
successful engagement ;in Honolulu
to fulfill coast ongagements. This
act is booked to play London, Eng
land, next spring.
