Patriotic enthusiasm ran 'high at
the Y. M. C. A. building last night,
there were over ono hundred girls
present and every one manifested a
deep interest in the meeting. Miss
Jean Smith temporary leader of the
La Grande National Girls' Honor
Guard presided with Miss Lorna Cool-
idge as temporary secretary. Ihe
meeting opened with the singing of
"The Star-Spangled Banner," with
Miss Leila Deborah Smith as leader;
there was lots of pep and enthusiasm
in the singing. It was,a great meet
ing and when the time came for the
signing the pledge and offering them
selves for service if the call was given,
the lobby looked like a very busy re
cruiting office. The following members
were appointed a nominating com-
Imittee to suggest permanent officers
and to report at the next meeting,

Dr. R. E. L. Holt the chief speaker
of the evening gave a very interesting
and instructive lecture, nearly all
thoso in attendance took rotes and
wero very attentive throughout the
talk. The next meeting will be held
next Thursday evening, at which time
the nominating committee will report.

Funeral of Mrs. Sarah M. Graham.
Mrs. Sarah M. Graham, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Budge, who
died April 2 was buried from the
Presbyterian church yesterday at 2
p. m., Rev. G. L. Clark presiding.
Representatives of tho different print
ing establishments of the city acted
as pallbearers. Interment was in
the Masonic cemetery.
Easter Services.
Sunrise Easter services of the
Presbyterian church at 7 a. m. o'clock
will begin the day. At the Sunday
School hour a short Easter service
and Decision day will 'be observed.
The Knights Templar will have
charge of the 11 o'clock services. Dr.
W. H. Bleakney of Walla Walla will
deliver the sermon. The young peo
ple will hold their Easter services in
tho evening at 7 p. m. also the recep
tion of new members in the evening
service.
At a recent meeting of the Presby
terian church J. K. Wright was chos
en as delegate to Presbytery which
meets at Union April 10.
Mrs. Edith Coulter returned to
Huntington last night after attending
tho funoral of Mrs. S.-.rah Graham.

Volley Ball Team
Invited To Festival
At the last class of the V. M. C. A.
business men, Mr. A. M. Grilley, phy
sical director of the Portland Y. M. C.
A., extended an Invitation to memters
to select a volleyball team to enter
the Rose Festival volleyball tourna
ment. The men are seriously consid
ering the project and if same can be
arranged, a team will be selected and
will commence to practice for the
evejit. The present volleyball league
is exceptionally well attended, over
25 business men can be found on the
floor every Tuesday and Friday. The
teams are known as Dixon's Gas At
tackers, Frees' Aeroplanes, Harding's
14 Centimeters and Bohnenkamps
Zeppelins. With the exception of
Dohnenkamp's team till teams are
holding a good percentage, especially
is this so of Dixon's Gas machines,
who are playing like a house afire and
it will take some great playing on the
part of the other teams to head him
orT. Ijist Tuesday witnessed a great
event, when Lynn Bohnenkamn's
Zeppelins, who heretofore had been
reached and destroyed before they
could accomplish anything but last
Tuesday they reached their mark and
scored a victory and the whole Boh
nenkamp family i3 happy. The stand

lowed the flag and band last evening
through the streets when the Elks'
lodge staged a parade before they
met in the lodge rooms for the in
