THINK DKAD BOY
JS NOW IDENTIFIED
Coroner Brown of Umatilla county
thinks the parts of the body of the
boy picked up along the O-W. R. & N.
company's right-of-way last Monday
morning were those of "Philip Milen"
or "I'hilip Millcn." These names were
on letters found in the personal ef
fects of the dead man. "Oscar Millcn"
was signed to a post card found in
the pockets. The card was sent from
Salem, Ore. A brakeman on No. 6
yesterday morning talked to a young
man who answers fairly well to the
obtainable description of the dead
man. The young man told the brake
man he was on his way to Silverton,
Oregon. This fit! in with the de
scription "J. E. A., Silverton, Ore.
Bom March 88, 1898. R. F. D. No. 6,"
found on a fancy riding saddle with
a portion of the body.

WATTS WATT TALK
NO. 6
In one of our Talks we mentioned a device with which you could
ROAST. BAKU FRY, BOIL, BROIL, STEW, STEAM and TOAST by
electricity, without investing in a big range. ThiH is truly a wonder
ful thing for a family of two to four persons. It is suitable too, for
larger families when it is desirable to have a quick and convenient
method of emikhig in addition to the regular coal, wood or gus range.
It is made in ninny styles both in the Hotpoint Ovenette and the
Universal Portable Range. We carry them in sizes ranging from
the one you can operate from a lamp socket and costing $8.00 to the
one requiring a special heating circuit and costing $21.50.
The ones operating from a lamp socket take a maximum Of
six cents per hour of electricity. Those requiring a special heating
circuit take a maximum of three and six tenths cents per hour. Almost
everyone acknowledges that cooking by electricity is the most de
sirable way imaginable aiul these devices make it within the reach of
everyone to do so.
The next time you are down town, drop in and look at one of them.

Farmer Kills Rabid Dog.
The first case of rabies in this vi
cinity was discovered here the first of
the week by Perry Blanchard, a ranch
er living north of Union, says the Ore
gon Scout. A dog owned by Mr.
Blnnchard was acting strangely and
bit another dog and two hogs. Mr.
Blanchard beenme auspicious at the
strange actions of the animal and
killed it. He sent the head to the State
Health Board at Portland and received
a letter this week to the effect that
ncgri bodies were found in tho brain
of the dog, proving conclusively that
the animal was afflicted with rabies.
Mr. Blnnchard killed the animals
bitten by the rabid dog at once, taking
no chances with the dreaded afflic
tion. One of the hogs bitten by the
mad dog was a fine registered Poland
China of the improved type and was
highly prized by Mr. Blanchard.
