False Friend's "Evil Self" Seen on
Screen in Stcger Play.
Julius Steger will be seen as star in

Stolen Triumph" at the Sherry theater!
last time tonignt.'
"The Stolen Triumph" is one of .the
most dramatic and tense plays ever
screened and it carries with it a great
moral lesson. Stephen Hunt, the the
atrical manager in the story, stole
from Edwin Rowley, the playwright,
his great play but its success brought
misery to both men.
In the photodrama a devil, symbolic

FOR RENT SIGNS
Observer office.
-For sale at The
science. In a dramatic scene where
ihe theatrical manager has his great
"self battle" this evil spirit actually
appears on the screen behind him and
urges him to steal the play. Against
this sinister power of his "evil self"
his own sense of right and justice
seem unable to asert themselves. His
conscience is crushed and for a time
he is pompletely in the clutches of his
"evil self."
All this is actually shown in the
great picture. Coming from nowhere
the devil in person is seen battling
with the man for supremacy. And
when he has won and the good in the
man is broken the evil spirit fades
away as mysteriously as it appeared.
The character of Stephen Hunt, the
theatrical man, ini whose heart this
battle between good and evil takes
place, is played in a finished manner
by Harry Burkhardt.

Tessie Mooney, "Princess Zim-Zim,"
is dancing. But the sudden defection
of the piano pliiyer leaves the show in
a precarious condition. Pete saunters
into the show and absently starts
former fiancee, but when Tessie kisses
him one day, he takes her in his arms,
for ho is lonely and disconsolate and
then realizes that tlfe girl thinks that
he is ini love with her. Rather than
break her heart by disillusioning her,
Pete makes the great mistake of de
ciding to go through with the mar
riage, because he has just read in the
paper of the engagement of Alice to
another man.
So Tessie is taken to the atmos

Commencing tomorrow the Arcade

Pickford in her new photoplay pro
duced by her own company and re
leased by Artcraft, "The Pride of the
ClaiK"
Every Scotchman in the country
hails with delight the news that "Lit
tle Mary" has selected the role of
"Marget MacTavish" as her next
screen impersonation. For a long time
Caledonians have hoped to see the
most popular girl in the world char
acterize the charming lass of the
theater and that she will forever im
mortalize the typical winsomeness of
Scotland's fair daughters -wiAi char
acteristic effectiveness is readily ex
pected. However, tho wonderful heart
appeal as well as dramatic finesse dis
played in "Tho Pride of tho Clan"
makes it an offering that will prove
of universal appeal. During her long
and brilliant career on the screen "Lit'
tie Mary" has portrayed characters of
a number of different nationalities,
her recent photoplay, "Less Than the
Dust" having met with record-breaking
success throughout the entire
country. It is a long way from' the
banks of the Ganges to the wind
blown fields of Scotch heather but it is
a trip that Miss Pickford has taken in
the interval between "Less Than the
Dust" and "The Pride of the Clan,"
a story of the northwest of Scotland.
On account of tho contract made with
the Artcraft Pictures Corporation, the
Arcade management is forced to
charge a minimum of 15c for all Pick
ford pictures produced by Artcraft;
children 5c as usual.
