ARCADE
New Hart Picture Filmed in Desert.
William S. Hart, the acknowledged
peer of Western character portrayers,
will be seen in another gripping Tri
angle drama today and tomorrow at
the Arcade when he is presented by
Thomas H. Ince as the star of "The
Aryan," an original story by C. Gard
ner Sullivan. This, it is declared, is
one of the most tensely compelling
narratives ever penned by the prolific
and versatilo author and suits to a
nicety the capabilities of the screen's
popular "bad man."
"Oft written in letters of blood;
deep-carved in the face ,of destiny,
( that all men may ror.d, runs the code
of the Aryan race: 'tjuv women shall
1 be guarded' And a man of the
white-skinned race may forget much
friends, duty, honor, but this ho
will not, he cannot forget." Such is
tho text of the theme chosen by Sulli
mining camp, utterly despising wom
en for ensuing years, until he is
awakened to tho code of his race by a
gentle, fearless girl, who trusts him.
The play is unusual in other things
besides its theme. For instance, it
nas no romantic Jove interest at all.
Tho man's affection for the girl is
too fine a thing to touch his senses.
Yearning for so exquitite a compan
ship, he yet turns away in pure un
selfishness, knowing himself un
worthy. "The Aryan" was produced, almost
in its entirety, on the sands of the
Majavn Desert in California, whero
tno blistering sun is a most unhpnr-
aule.
