Imbler, July 18. (Special) Mrs.
John Hudson met with a painful ac
cident Monday. A horse she was driv
ing, became frightened and whirled
around in the road upsetting the bug
gy and throwing the lady to the
ground. The rig ran over her but
aside from severe bruises she escaped
injury. '.
Mrs. Charlie Day and Luey Wade
were in La Grande Tuesday. '
The local Epworth League held a
missionary social last Friday even
ing, each member being requested to
pay a quarter, and more unless the
quarter was accompanied by a rhymed
explanation of how the money was
earned. A short program consisting
of a topsy-turvy drill, mock wedding,
and a representation of the "House
that Jack Built" was followed by light
refreshments. . .
Constable I. W. Faulk came down
Monday morning to sell the articles
listed in the W. H. Byer store. To
save time the entire list was offer
ed together and Sherwood Williams
bid the artices in at $120.00. Mr,
Williams, who already held title to the
other stock of good's, now has po
session of the entire invoice.
Cove's Cherry Fair boosters were
here Monday both numerous and
noisy.
Mrs. Bob Pitzsimmons lectured to
an Imbler audience again Sunday
evening.
District Supt. Winters came down
Sunday evening and called the of

gether after the lecture for a business
meeting.
Walter Westfall and Ueorge Wade
are preparing for an auto trip' to Yel-
owstone Park. They will be accom
panied by their families and a driver
for the third car which will contain
the camping outfit.

Thieves Steal David Lee Car
Baker, July 18.. Thieves armed
with a skeleton key entered the ga
rage of David Lee on Grove street,
lastnight and left with his new $1000
car. No clow to the identity of the
thieves has been found, but it is the
'belief of the authorities that no party
of joy riders was responsible.
(The garage was locked up at 6
o'clock last night and this morning
Mr. Lee sent for his car, intending to
make an, early morning trip to his
ranch to oversee the gathering of
the hay crop. The report brought
back that the building was empty,
was the first knowledge of his loss.
