How Italy Hates Austria
Chicago Daily Journal
Austria and Italy are at each other's
throats. And not for the first time.
(Italy has always hated Austria, as the
ill-treated small boy hates the school
bully. Here is a story from the San
Francisco News Age of October 6,
lXbb, when Austria still ruled North
ern Italy, which gives an odd side
light on this hate:
"As a proof of Austrian unpopular.

Irt dancer at Venice, while dancing at
the theater there, hnd a boquet
thrown her, tied with a ribbon in the
Itiilian colors. She immediately kissed
the ribbon, which created tremendous
enthusiasm among the audience.
After the performance she was
called to the police office, and sharply
reprimanded for this act of patriotism.
She excused herself bv savine that in
kissing the bouquet she hnd onlv fol
lowed the universal custom on such
occasions; but the authorities would
not accept this excuse; and told cr
that another time she should not kiss
the bouquet, but tread it underfoot.
"Tho following evening another
bouquet wns thrown, and tho dancer,
in compliance with her instructions,
trod it under foot, again amidst fran
tic applause. The ribbon around the
bouquet was, however, this time not

SHERRY'S
AT SHERRY'S.
J. Warren Kerrigan, matinee idol
of a million "picture fans," comes to
the Sherry theatre today only in
the brilliant Bluebird Photo
play, "A . Son of the Immortals,"
founded on Louis Tracy's story of the
ame title, from which Bertram
Grasaby has made the scenario. Otis
Turner directed . the production for
Bluebird and has created a stirring
and exciting picture replete with
thrilling incidents.
In brief the photoplay tells how an
American was unexpectedly elevated
to a throne, and the democratic man
ner in which he conducts the impres
sive affairs of the kingdom arouse the
indignation of the politicians and the
admiration of the populace. Witness
ing tneir control passing beyond re
call because of the liberal and un
usual methods of governing that the
Yankee king employs, the militaristic
plotters decree that the American
king shall be removed through the
old-fashioned method of assassination.
Then starts a series of exciting and
thrilling incidents, in which great
mobs ot people participate m various
demonstrations. Although tihe plot
ters are not able to carry to a suc
cessful conclusion their various plans
tor tne assassination ot tne kmc
events finally shape themselves so
that the American is eliminated un
der circumstances that bring the
five-act feature to a stirring conclu
sion.
placed upon a throne, in real life, may j
not be exactly illustrated in the Blue
bird, but the fanciful structure that
has been reared for the entertainment
of moving picture devotees is well
worth while, nevertheless.

Does 60 per cent Saved
Look Good to You???
We absolutely guarantee this saving by using DISTILATE with the IJest Gasifier on your car.
This device simply takes the moisture from the radiator carrying it over the manifold through
tight-fitting coppered stove lined with asbestos when it is superheated; then to the carburetor where
it makes a complete combustion using approximately 98 per cent of your distilate.
The following reasons will tell you why you should use the Lcist Gasifier:
1. Distilate costs about one-half as much and gives more power and miles per gallon.
2. Distilate when used with the Lcist Gasifier will not carbonize your motor.
3. Does not interfere with the use of gasoline, in fact, will save 25 per cent. ,
4. Moisture is supplied to the cylinders which prevents any carbon deposits either from fuel or
oil and positively keeps clean the cylinder walls, pistons, spark plugs, valves and valve stems.
Official Test made with a Ford car equipped with Leist Gasifiers showed the following mileage
Gasoline 21 miles, Distilate 33.2 miles. B '
Can be installad by any motorist or garage.
