riving (by auto from Baker today en
route to Pendleton. Tlbey were
joined here by Don Sargent who will
put in a day or two across the moun

City Manager's Report.
To the Commission: The fire de
partment had one call to A. Stew
art's home on C avenue, July 1st.
Everybody was to the Ohlautauqua or
down town. The fire gained consid
erable headway before it was dis
covered. The house and contents
were quite badly damaged. IjOss
covered by insurance. The fire was
urobably caused by in overhented
cook stove.
The water superintendent spent
$17.25 on repair work; $5.75 for taps;
$46 for reading meters and attending
shut-off work during the absence of
the superintendent at tihe intake and
$13,75 for a man at the intake.
The street superintendent 'had a
man and team for $28.50; a white
wing five and a fourth days for
$13.12. He purchased cross walk
lumber for $4.72 for repairs and
82.bo for sidewalk repairs. Had a
half a day's work by a prisoner. He
repaired a cross walk on Fainter and
Third and a small bridge at Third and
1, and fixed up road from there to
ward Deal's canyon. Thris included a
small culvert.
The recorder received $42.50 fines
and forfeitures; $3.00 for the sale of
city maps; $10 for dog licenses and
50 cents for one building permit. He
issued dray licenses on treasurer's re
ceipts of $40 and pool .license on re
ceipt of $35. He issued a warrant on
the water fund for $1.9, $80.71 on
the Contingent fund on puid outs for
June. He issued a warrant for $875
for interest in City hall and Sewer
bonds. . He issued a warrant on the
Imp. District Interest fund for
$568.24 interest on coupons eight
bonds Nos. 38d, and 396 to 425; cou
pons five bonds Nos. 604 to 610 and
652, and one for $30 on District No.
99 interest fund, coupons one, bonds
Nos. 1 and 2 District No. 99. He
also drew a warrant for $999.53 on
the - B. C. F. L. Sinking fund for
warrants Nos. 16951,91 92, 94, 95, 96,
98, 17000, 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 19, 20, 21,
22, 25, 33, 42 and 43. Discount was
$20.40. He issued a warrant for
$111.90 on the Library fund on vouch
ers No. 367 to 371.
