The story of u 'brilliant but dissi
pated lawyer who becomes tine wop

lard Muck is the lawyer and Enid
Mackey is the Chieftain's daughter,
whom he marries. It bcginH with the
turmoil of a great trial. The lawyer,
crazed by tirink and the strain of his
labors, is shipped by his friends on a
sailing vessel so that be may recover
his manhood in a new environment.
Tho vessel is wrecked and he is the
only survivor, being rescued by the
natives on a South Sea island. A
month later he is shown us a worth
less drunkard, who knocks down a na
tive and takes away a bottle of liquor.
He escapes to the mountain, where
he crawls through a envo to the other
side, lie is awakened from sleep by
falling ashes from . a volcano, and
while milking his escape comes across
Enid Murkey, the Chieftain's daugh
ter. Shu has been tied to a post,
where the flowing lava will destroy
her, because the nutives believe that
by this sacrifice they will appease the
wrath of the divinity of tho mountain.
Mack fakes the fainting girl to a
place of safety and on her roeovcry
she fulls down before htm, as she
thinks he is the son of the god of the
mountain which is in eruption. He
soon tires of the idyll -like life and re
turns to civilization. As he is passing
a restaurant be bears the song of
"Aloha Oe"' (Farewell), and is so
homesick for the life he ' had left
, among the palms and flowers that he
ships buck to tho island. There his
return is huiled withi joy by the Eim
ple duughtecof the Chieftain and the
worshipping members of the tribe.
