North Powder is doing' her part in the
auto buying this year. -. Several new
cars have come in and more are com
ing. Three new "Cole 8's" have been
brought and more on the way. Sev
eral sales of Ford cars aTe reported
and other makes are being sold. It
seems as if the farmers know a good
thing when they see it. and most of
the purchasers of the new cars are
farmers and they know a good car
and do not have to ie told by the
dealers. ,
Forsstrom-Pilchar will soon have
things straightened up in their store
and the improvements are a great
help to the'ir business.They tave in
stalled cash carriers and other labor
saving inventions and will have every
thing of the latest in all departments.
A. large number of people took in
the moving picture at Buker "The
Birth of a Nation," and all pronounce
it a fine show.
Mrs. Keoster has leased her large
stock farm to Mercer and son. They
purchased most of the stock las well.

The new garage and butchershop

W. N. Gardener purchased thirty
head of dairy cows from Saim Carnes.
Mr. Gardener is going into the dairy
business on a large scale and expects
to devote most of his time to it.
Charlia Brant returned from the
Grande Ronde hospital recently where

dicitis. He is getting along nicely
and will soon be in good health again.
Dr. Law has moved his office from
the Oregon Rooming house to the
McGregor building where he has bet
ter accommodations (for his patients.
Wiley Dalton is the possessor of
a Willys-Knight auto. .It is a fine
car and he is very proud of it. He
traded in Ms old car in the sale.
Pawners are getting along nicely
with their seeding and .nvany will
finish up in a few days and nearly all

month. Ci'ods look fine. The fall
grain is a good stand and the spring
grain is coming up nicely. .

five milk wagon drivers went on
strike lute last night to nforce a de
mand of the Milk Drivers' union for
improved working conditions. About
half the drivers employed in the city
are involved in the strike, which was
called immediately after George An
desson, president of the union, re
ported that none of the dairymen had
