rAT THE MOVIES
"The Trail of the Lonesome Pine.'
The distinguished American actress,
-Charlotte Walker, will be seen at the
Arcade tonight and tomorrow in the
Jesse L. Lanky picturization of "Tho
TraUijof tho Lonesome Pine." It was
in the dramatic version of this beauti
ful story of the Cumberland moun
tains that Miss Walker scored her
'greatest triumph on tltoe speaking
stage. The story was secured es
pecially for her by the Lasky com
pany. It is a Paramount picture.
The story of "The Trail of the
Lonesome Pino" has to do with the
love of a young Internal Revenue Of
ficer hunting for illegal moonshine
whiskey stills in tha remote mountain
section of Virginia. There he meets
"June," the beautiful daughter of old
Jutkl Tollivor, head of the moonshin
ers. How the two fall In love, al
though enemies, how the moonshine
traffic is broken up and the young of
ficer wins over the Tolliver family
tunst, naturally, be seen to be appre
ciated. : Cecil B. DoMille, director general
of the Lasky company, was personally
in charge of the production of tho
photodrama and has maintained a
wonderful atmosphere of the moun
tains and the peculiar characteristics
of the uneducated Mountaineers
throughout tho entire production.
The photography is by Alvin Wyck
off, head of tibe Lasky photographic
department and is unusual in its
beauty and originality.
In the cast supporting Miss Walker
are such famous artists as Theodore
Roberts, Thomas Meighan, Earl Fox,
Park Jones and a number of other
members of the Lasky all-star organ
ization. AT SHERRY'S
,'Tho Fool's Revenge."
Today at Sfnierry's: Anson, the
clown, kills his wife, whom he finds in
the home of Randall, a wealthy lib
ertine. Anson, who has changed his name
to Andrews, discovers Mendell, his
partner, making love to Randall's
wife, who is a visitor at tihe Mendall
Home.
Mendell goes to the home of An
drews, without knowing that the resi
dence is that of his partner, and, over-
I powering Randall's daughter, carries
! her away in an automobile.
Ethel, daughter of Andrews, and
Mendell are injured in an automobile
accident, while Mendell is kidnapping
the girl. Htlhlel is token to the Men
dell home, nearby, and placed in bed
in the room recently vacated by Mrs.
Randall.
Andrews, believing that the occu
pant of the room is Mrs. Randall, en
ters and chloroforms his own daugh
ter. '
Andrews, carrying the unconscious
form of his own daughter, goes with
Mendell to an apartment wlhiere he
leaves Ethel for Mendell.
Randall is informed by telephone by
Andrews, that Mrs. Randall is in an
apartment with Mendell.
Randall hastens to the apartment
and kills Mendell, then discovers that
the woman in the iroom is.not his wife.
Andrews finds out that he Ihas fur
nished his own daughter to Mendell.
Spring
Spring is looked upon by many as
the most delightful season of the year,
but this cannot , be said of the rheu-
1 matle. The cold and damp weather
brings on rheumatic pains which are
anything but pleasant. They can be
relieved, however, by applying Cham,
berlain's Liniment. Obtainable every
where. ! ;
OUR EASTER SEASON
LUMBER DELIVERIES
are very heavy this year.
Building operations of all kinds
are in full swing, and we are
getting more than our share
of lumber orders, especially
from tho most experienced and
export builders. They know
good lumber and lumber values.
That's why thoy do their buy
ing here. There should be a
hint in that fact for you.
