As "The Foundling" Miss Pickford is
presented as a . child spumed by hen
father, an impoverished artist, because
its birth "has cost the life of its
mother, dearly beloved 'by the artist.
Unable to tolerate the sight of the
babe that had caused his wife's death,
he gives it to a stranger who, in turn
transposes it to an orphanage. In the
sorrow of his wife's death, the tortist
finds thejouch of genius for which he
bad longed, and through Its employ
ment in hie work becomes a recognized
leader of his profession. In the mean
time, Molly 0, as his daughter is
named fit the orphanage, is adopted
by a sycophantic woman who pretends
to 'be seeking a daughter, but who
in reality wants a servant in . to1
boarding house, and Molly O becomes
a drudge and a slave. In the years
that follow, the artist begins to realize
the shallowness of fame and fortune
without love, and regrets his impulsive
act in sending f.way his baby daugh
ter. He returns to America from
'Italy, where he 'has been working on
his masterpiece, the Madonna, to seek
his daughter. Through a series -of
dramatic viccissitudes, Molly O's path
crosses that of her father and through
the instrumentality of fate, she is

Parkdale Gets First Train Since

the first time since February 1, when
the road was blocked by slides c4
