pany of artists who are to present
"The Servant in the House" on the
Lyceum platform the comic? season
under Redpath management, was for
twelve years at the head of his own
company. . He has selected the players
for this cast from among, actors of
experience whom he. has known for
years. Mr. Owen is also known in ed
ucational circles. He has addressed a
very, large percent of all the colleges,
hi? schools, and women's club in the

-Beginning his career at the early
aee of eighteen vears. at twentv-
!-three he was playing "Mephistopho-
les" for. Lewis Morrison in "Paust."
He took Mr. Morrison's part in this
play for six months . Since he was
twenty-two he has' appeared in noth
ing but leading roles. In Shakespear
ean productions he hns appeared as
Hamlet. Romeo, Shylock, Benedick,
Iago and Orlando: in : "The Three
Musketeers" as "D'Artosman and in
the famous, dramas of Bulwer-Lytton
as Richelieu., and Claude Melndtte. He
has . played the i part .'f . David. Gar
rick in "David Gnrrick" and Ingomar
in ."Ingomar." '-, For two - weeks he
played a leading role with Julia Mar
lowe in McVicker's Theatre. Chieo,
and in the original run of "Josephine,
Empress of the French," appeared
with Rhea, the great French actress,
in Broadway Theatre, N. Y.1 With
Donald Robertson ho appeared in the
Art; Institute, Chicago,' in the plays
of Ibsen Browning, , Milton, : Goethe
and others and it was while -here, in
October,; 1908, that James O'Donnell
Bennett, the noted drmatic critic of
Chicago, wrote in the Record-Herald:

In this district a school gets one point
for a decision and one point for each
judge - who votes favorably, , but if
two schools have two winning teams
they debate again, regardless of com

' In the January Woman's Home
Companion is the story of a Mary
land wqman named Mary Dewitt Tit
comb who has extended the field of
the Washington County free library
until it supplies the; loneliest,.-inaugurating
an R. F. D.llbrary service.
In reward the trustees have built her
a residence attached to the library.
, . "Miss Titcomb felt that it was
necessary for the library to go to
those who were- not able' to come , to
the library. So, with the consent of
the trustees, she built her first 'li
brary wagon.' It was, according to
her own description', 'most like a sub
liminated ; laundry wagon.' ' There
were side doors opening outward, and
each side was fitted with shelves full
of Woks." Between the shelves and in
the space below were two - dapper
mules, the wagon started onj its mis
sion of carrying good books to every
little crossroads - settlement, . every
hillside farm. An . auto has . now
taken the place of the wagon, and it
carries a visiting librarian, who helps
farm families and the teachers of remote-schools
K in their ; selection of
'books, and pictures. It makes two'
trips a week on sixteen routes, covering-
the entire county. : The county
has fifty thousand inhabitants, : and J
lest year the circulation of books from
the traveling library alone was sixty
