summary of estimates of crop pro
duction, and prices, for the State of
Oregon and for the United States,
compiled by the Bureau of Crop Esti
mates (and transmitted through the
Weather Bureau), U. S. Department
01 Agriculture, is as follows:
Crop production in Oregon this
year aggregates in quantity about 17
per cent more than last year. Prices
on December 1 average eight per cent
lower than a year ago, making total
value of crop production, on this
basis, about eight per cent less than
last year. The estimates are based
upon those crops whose values in the
last complete crop census represented
68 per cent of the value of all crops.
For the United States production
this year aggregates in quantity
about nine per cent more than last
year. Prices December 1 average one
per cent lower than a year ago, mak
ing total value of crop production on
this basis about eight per cent less
than last year; these estimates are
based upon crops whose value in the
last complete crop census represented
85 per cent of the value of all crops
grown, and may be regarded as repre
sentative of all crops.
. Corn Increase Big.
The acreage for corn in Oregon this
year was 33,000 compared to 22,000
a year ago. the price December 1st
this year was equal to that of a year
ago but the production in 1915 was
1,160,000 compared to 660,000 a year
ago. Eighty-two cents was paid.
Wheat in Oregon in 1915 was
grown on 900.000 acres -with a total
yield of 20,000,000, worth 84 cents
per bushel December 1st. This is
about four million bushels more than
a year ago and an increase of 200,000
acres.
Potatoes" for the year totaled 48,
000 acres in Oregon with a Deduc
tion of 5,520,000 bushels averaged at
60 cents per bushel, the same as la3t
year. The potato production in the
United States was 359.000.000
bushels at an average cost of 61.9
cents per bushel.
